Overwatch 2 Ping Test
Measure your real latency to Overwatch 2 servers — then find out if it was lag, or you.
Region auto-picked from your location — tap another region to compare.
How this works: game servers don't answer web pings, so this times your browser's round trip to the game's regional entry point in the same city — the same network distance your game traffic covers. Warm-up first, then 4 samples, median shown.
What ping is normal for — Overwatch 2
| Rating | Ping | How it feels |
|---|---|---|
| Excellent | 0–30 ms | Hitscan heaven. Cassidy and Ashe shots land exactly on the click. |
| Playable | 30–60 ms | Standard for most of the ladder. Nothing here is holding back your rank. |
| Noticeable | 60–110 ms | Flicks feel soft, and favour-the-shooter starts ruling against you. |
| Unplayable | 110+ ms | You are the content in someone else's highlight reel. Fix the route. |
Overwatch 2 runs a comparatively high server tick (around 63 updates a second) with a famous "favour the shooter" model: if it hit on your screen, it usually counts. That hides small ping well — until two players' realities collide, when the higher-ping player loses the argument. Blizzard also picks your server from just three macro-regions (Americas, Europe, Asia), so your exact city matters less than which third of the planet you're in.
Lagging? Work through this list
- Show the netgraph when it feels off — Ctrl+Shift+N opens the full network graph in game. One glance separates "server hiccup" from "my router is dying".
- Turn on network stats — Options → Video → Stats → Show Network Stats: On gives you a permanent latency readout in the corner.
- Cap Battle.net downloads — The Battle.net client will happily patch another game mid-match. Settings → Downloads → limit its bandwidth, or pause updates while you play.
- Go wired — Favour-the-shooter forgives steady ping, not jittery Wi-Fi. Spikes read as stolen shots.
- Know your region reality — Americas covers two continents; a "correct region" match can still be 70 ms away. If your number here is high, no in-game setting will save you — it's geography.
- Use QoS at home — Evening Overwatch plus a streaming household is the classic latency cocktail.
Frequently asked questions
What ping is normal for Overwatch 2?
Most players sit at 25–60 ms. Under 30 ms is excellent for hitscan, under 60 ms won't hold any role back, and past 110 ms the favour-the-shooter arguments start going against you.
Why does my OW2 ping differ from this test?
This test reaches Blizzard's regional entry; your match is hosted on a server instance inside that region, and the client number includes processing. The regional baseline here is the honest floor.
Does ping matter for every hero?
No — and that's the good news. Hitscan (Cassidy, Ashe, Soldier: 76, Widowmaker) feel every millisecond; projectile and beam heroes (Junkrat, Mei, Moira) barely notice 80 ms. High ping is a hero-pool choice as much as a problem.
How do I show ping in Overwatch 2?
Options → Video → Stats → Show Network Stats: On. For the full diagnostic graph, press Ctrl+Shift+N in a match.
What does packet loss look like in OW2?
Rubber-banding teammates, abilities that fire twice or not at all, and ult charge that feels haunted. Check the netgraph — loss spikes usually trace back to Wi-Fi, not Blizzard.
