League of Legends Ping Test

Measure your real latency to LoL servers — then find out if it was lag, or you.

Measuring…

Region auto-picked from your location — tap another region to compare.

How this works: game servers don't answer web pings, so this times your browser's round trip to the game's regional entry point in the same city — the same network distance your game traffic covers. Warm-up first, then 4 samples, median shown.

What ping is normal for — League of Legends

RatingPingHow it feels
Excellent0–35 msLast-hits are pure muscle memory. Nothing between you and the minion.
Playable35–70 msCompletely standard for ranked. Combos land as practised.
Noticeable70–120 msSkillshots feel a half-step behind your cursor. Dodgeable becomes barely.
Unplayable120+ msYou are reacting to a game that already happened. Do not queue mid.

League runs on a modest server tick (about 30 updates a second) with generous input buffering, which is why LoL stays playable at pings that would ruin a shooter. The flip side: there are no shards inside a region — North America plays on servers in Chicago, so a West Coast player's "normal" is 60–75 ms no matter how good their fibre is. In LoL, geography is destiny.

Lagging? Work through this list

  1. Press Ctrl+F and actually look — LoL shows ping and FPS top-right with Ctrl+F. If the number is stable, your problem is elsewhere; if it breathes up and down, it's your line.
  2. Your account is region-locked — Unlike most games, your LoL account lives on one region. Playing on another continent's region means permanent 150+ ms — no setting fixes geography.
  3. Go wired — LoL forgives steady ping but hates jitter. Wi-Fi spikes during teamfights are the classic "my ult didn't go off" story.
  4. Close the launchers and streams — The Riot Client, a browser with 40 tabs and a stream on the second monitor all nibble at the same line.
  5. Use QoS if you share a home — Evening ranked plus a family streaming box is the standard recipe for 40 ms of extra latency.
  6. Reboot the router before a session — Five-day-uptime ISP routers are a meme for a reason.

Frequently asked questions

What ping is normal for League of Legends?

It depends where you live relative to the server: 10–35 ms if you're near it, and 50–75 ms is everyday-normal for much of NA. Under 70 ms won't hold you back; past 120 ms combos and dodges start lying to you.

Why is my LoL ping different from this test?

This test reaches the regional entry point; your match runs on Riot's game servers (Chicago for NA), and the client number includes server processing. If this test is already high, the client will be higher.

What does packet loss do in LoL?

It feels like ignored inputs: you click, nothing happens, then everything happens at once. In teamfights that reads as "my combo didn't fire" — usually loss or jitter, not the champion.

How do I show ping in LoL?

Press Ctrl+F in game. Ping and FPS appear in the top-right corner. It's a toggle — press it once and it stays.

Is 80 ping playable in LoL?

Yes — generations of players hit Diamond at 70–90 ms. Favour skillshots you can lead, and accept that reaction plays like flashing a Malphite ult have a hard ceiling.
